To the cloud...
Expedia has embarked on its mission to migrate our services and applications to the cloud. This migration fundamentally changes how we approach and implement security for our cloud based systems. We must protect our applications, data, services, and infrastructure with parity to our data centers, but we must do so with security controls that are designed with cloud concepts and design patterns in mind. Simply lifting and shifting our existing controls and tools wouldn’t be effective. The ERS Security Team has put together a Cloud Security Program to create Security Controls, select and evaluate new security tools and agents, and design reviews of our brands and application teams’ architecture as they migrate.
This June, ERS kicks off a series of presentations as we take a deep dive into how Expedia, Inc. is approaching Security in the Cloud. Our team will be presenting a variety of topics, including security core concepts and strategy, AWS Cloud Security Controls, our homegrown security compliance and governance platforms, and more!
